With track & field competition under way at the Rio Olympics, Game On caught up with Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer Delethea Quarles, who is well acquainted with international track & field competition.

Quarles, the assistant head coach at South Carolina, served as head women's coach for Team USA at the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. She is not part of the coaching staff in Rio, but one of her former standout athletes at South Carolina will be in action at the Olympics this week.

Jeannelle Scheper, who appears in Game On's feature, will high jump representing Saint Lucia. Qualifying for the event is set for Thursday at 9 a.m., with the final on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Quarles was a two-time NCAA Division II All-American in the heptathlon (1987 and 1988) for Liberty. She then served as an assistant coach for the Flames for eight years (1990-97) before joining the South Carolina staff.
