Following the completion of the 2015-16 women's tennis season, LFSN Game On had a chance to sit down with Anna Dollar to talk with her about her rookie collegiate season.
A native of Lancaster, Pa., Dollar spent most of her high school playing days in the Ukraine, where her family served as missionaries. Playing internationally allowed Dollar to experience a different level of tennis than most of her teammates who honed their skills playing against more local and regional high school opponents.
During her first season at Liberty, Dollar posted a 10-10 individual record during the spring season, securing the No. 2 and No. 3 singles slot in Liberty's rotation. She teamed up with Maria Khval to post an 18-5 doubles record at the No. 2 position, earning All-Big South and VaSID All-State second team honors.
Dollar played a significant part in a memorable 2015-16 season for the Lady Flames. Liberty captured a share of the Big South regular season title and set a program record with eight conference victories, both firsts in program history.
The Lady Flames (15-10, 8-1 BSC) were the No. 1 seed in the 2016 Big South Women's Tennis Championship and made the program's first-ever appearance in the championship's title match.
