The doubles pair of Evangeline Crist and Valerie Thong were named to the 2016 VaSID All-State Doubles first-team listing.

Two of Liberty's doubles pairs who helped the Lady Flames to a record season, along with junior Maria Khval, were among the team's honorees on the 2016 VaSID All-State University Division Women's Tennis teams.

The doubles pair of Evangeline Crist and Valerie Thong were named to the VaSID All-State Doubles first-team listing, while the duo of Khval and Anna Dollar were listed on the VaSID All-State Doubles second-team squad.

Khval individually was named to the all-state singles second team as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) earlier today.

The doubles pairs of Crist/Thong and Khval/Dollar are the second and third groupings in program history to be named to a VaSID all-state team. Khval and Brittany Yang were first-team selections in 2015.

Khval becomes the fourth singles player in program history to be named to a VaSID all-state team and the first since Jordan Jenkins was a second-team selection in 2009.

Crist and Thong finished the spring portion of the 2016 season with a 17-6 doubles record as the Lady Flames' No. 1 doubles pairing. They posted a 7-2 mark in Big South play and were selected to the All-Big South Doubles first team.

Khval and Dollar were All-Big South Doubles second-team honorees after posting an 18-5 record in 2016 as Liberty's No. 2 doubles pair, including a 7-1 record in conference action.

Khval was Liberty's primary No. 1 singles player during the spring portion of the 2016 season. The junior finished the year with a 15-9 overall record, including a 13-7 mark in No. 1 singles action. She was an All-Big South Singles first-team honoree.

Crist, Dollar, Khval and Thong each played a significant part in a memorable season for the Lady Flames. Liberty captured a share of the Big South regular season title and set a program record with eight conference victories, both firsts in program history.

The Lady Flames were the No. 1 seed in the 2016 Big South Women's Tennis Championship and made the program's first-ever appearance in the championship's title match.

Virginia swept the major awards on the 2016 VaSID All-State University Division Women's Tennis teams.

Danielle Collins, who claimed the national singles title at the 2016 NCAA Women's Tennis Championship, was named the VaSID Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

Freshman Meghan Kelley was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year, while Cavaliers' coach Mark Guilbeau was named the VaSID Coach of the Year for the third year in a row.
