Introducing Field Hockey Newcomer, Annika Roberts

Annika Roberts joins the 2016 Liberty Field Hockey squad after completing the last four seasons at Wilmington Christian School, with teammate and newcomer Jenny Kurlej.

Roberts was named to the first team all-state squad in four consecutive seasons. The Pennsylvania native was also a member of the Diamond State First Team All-Conference for four consecutive years. Roberts was a five-year starter and was named the Most Outstanding Player in 2014.

At the club level, Roberts was a gold medalist in the 2016 National Indoor Tournament. Roberts also placed second at the U19 Disney Showcase in 2015 and won the Pool S Championship at the U16 Festival in 2014. Roberts competed in the 2014 Junior Olympics, placing first while also winning both the U16 NCC Championship and U16 RCC Championship.

Why did you choose Liberty?
"I chose Liberty because I felt right at home the moment I stepped on campus. The coaches and team were so welcoming and the environment was so comfortable. The passion the coaches and girls have for the Lord is so real. It seems like the perfect place to grow in my walk with the Lord as well as develop as a player."

What was your favorite thing about Liberty's campus?
"My favorite thing about the campus is everyone's kindness. Everyone seems to have a smile on their face and thoroughly enjoy being a student at Liberty."

What is your goal coming in to Liberty?
"I hope to grow in my faith each and every day and to further develop my ability as a player."

Head Coach Jodi Murphy on Roberts:
"Annika has been a key player in high school and club programs throughout her entire high school career. She is a strong distributor and has a knack for the goal. She is a mature player who I believe will make valuable contributions next fall."
