Alicia Finnigan earned a Junior Nationals cut on Sunday in Richmond.
Liberty freshman Alicia Finnigan earned a Junior Nationals cut during a long course meters time trial meet on Sunday, held at SwimRVA in Richmond, Va.
Today's meet was offered at the site of the 2016 CAA Swimming & Diving Championships, which finished yesterday. Similarly to last week's CCSA long course meet, the goal was to qualify for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Finnigan swam a lifetime-best 2:15.49 in the 200 meter butterfly, meeting the Junior Nationals standard while missing the Olympic Trials cut by just half of a second.
Senior Hannah Wakeley clocked 2:21.92 in the 200 fly, competing alongside Finnigan.
Junior Victoria Tschoke drew closer to the Olympic Trials cut in the 100 backstroke, swimming a lifetime-best 1:03.73. Her time of 1:03.73 is just 0.34 seconds off of the Olympic Trials standard.
The Lady Flames will have additional opportunities to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which will be held in Omaha, Neb., from June 26 through July 3.
