Liberty Baseball Begins Team Preparations for 2016

The Liberty baseball team will begin preparations for its 2016, Friday afternoon at Liberty Baseball Stadium. The Flames will practice as team for the first time in the new year.

Led by senior shortstop Dalton Britt and junior outfielder Will Shepherd, Liberty returns 17 players from last year's 33-22 squad. Other key returners to ninth-year head coach Jim Toman's team include pitchers Victor Cole and Parker Bean and first baseman/outfielder Andrew Yacyk.

A total 18 newcomers will join the Flames' roster in 2016, providing nine-year head coach Jim Toman with a nice blend of upperclassmen and youth.

Practices are open to the public at Liberty Baseball Stadium. Practices run Tuesday through Sunday in the afternoon.

Liberty opens its 2016 campaign with a three-game series at South Florida, Feb. 19-21 in Tampa, Fla.

The Flames are scheduled to begin their 29-game home schedule at Liberty Baseball Stadium with a three-game series against UConn on March 4-6.

Season tickets for the upcoming 2016 Liberty Flames baseball season at Liberty Baseball Stadium are now available. The Flames are scheduled to play 29 games at Liberty Baseball Stadium, this season.
