Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2015: No. 10

As the calendar winds down to the final days of 2015, the Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made this athletics year special for Flames Nation.

The series continues today by looking at Moment No. 10, men's tennis posting consecutive 4-3 wins over Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian during a Big South weekend series.

After trailing 3-1 to Coastal Carolina on March 21, Liberty rallied with singles victories from Sam Matheson, Dillon Segur and Egon Samaai to clinch their first Big South win of the year. Matheson won his match in a third-set tiebreaker, while Samaai sealed the Flames' victory over the Chanticleers with a convincing 6-2 win in his third-set match.

The following day at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts, Liberty jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to securing the doubles point and two singles matches. However, the Blue Hose battled back to tie the overall match with three straight singles victories.

During the final singles match of the day, Samaai dropped the first set and was down 5-3 in the third set before reeling off four-straight games to claim his individual match and the overall victory for Liberty.

The men's tennis team finished the year with a 14-10 overall record and earned the No. 2 seed at Big South Men's Tennis Championship after posting a program best 6-2 conference record.

The Liberty Flames Sports Network will continue to countdown the top moments of 2015 when reveals moment No. 9 on Tuesday.
