With the 2015 fall season wrapped up, Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren has announced the signing of Eugenia Camacho to a National Letter of Intent. Camacho will enroll at Liberty for the 2016-17 academic year.
A native of Costa Rica, Camacho has proven her success on the tennis courts. Camacho is regularly ranked inside the ITF Top 500 world rankings. The Liberty signee has reached numerous ITF tournament finals and semifinals in both singles action and doubles play.
Most recently in the past year, Camacho has knocked off several marquee opponents. In the Guatemala ITF tournament, Camacho bested Chiara Lommer, a blue-chip recruit and Michigan signee. Camacho has also beaten five-star recruit and Tennessee signee, Mary Caroline Meredith in the Dominican Republic ITF tournament.
Camacho on signing with Liberty: "I chose Liberty because of the great level of tennis and the great level of success, both in athletics and in the classroom. I am sure it will be a great place to live."
Maren on signing Camacho: "Eugenia has proven herself on the International Junior Circuit over the past five years or so. She has defeated her share of top 200 players, as well as blue-chip and five-star Americans. She has an incredible work ethic, is goal-oriented, mentally tough and loves the team concept. I have no doubt that she will make an immediate impact on the team, and will fit nicely into our culture. We are looking forward to having her join our family next fall!"
