2015-16 Liberty MBB Non-conference Schedule

A gamut of home games during the opening week, along with trips to Nashville, VCU and Notre Dame highlight the non-conference portion of the 2015-16 Liberty men's basketball schedule.

"We're excited about the challenges this year's non-conference schedule presents," Liberty Men's Basketball Head Coach Ritchie McKay stated. "Our philosophy is to try and use the non-conference schedule to not only build a resume, but to prepare us for our Big South Conference schedule. I think this schedule obviously fulfills that purpose."

McKay added, "Anytime you have teams like VCU and Notre Dame along with traditional regional powers such as William & Mary and Princeton, I think you are going to challenge your guys, especially a group that is so young like ours. I am excited and I hope our fans will rally around us and support this year's team and our efforts to represent Flames Nation."

Liberty hits the ground running with four contests inside the Vines Center in a one-week span. The Flames open the season with four straight home games for the first time since the 1999-2000 campaign. That year, Liberty began the season with five consecutive Vines Center contests. This season, the Flames start the 2015-16 slate against Covenant College on Nov. 13, followed by contests versus Summit University and William & Mary.

Liberty rounds out its four-game home stretch versus Central Penn, which also serves as the Flames' kickoff game for The Challenge in Music City. Head coach Ritchie McKay's squad then heads to Nashville, Tenn., to conclude the tournament with a trio of neutral site contests (Nov. 26-29). All matchups in Nashville are yet to be announced.

The Flames remain on the road for a meeting at Furman on Dec. 8 before hosting Lamar four days later. On Dec. 17, Liberty hits the trail again, closing out the month of December with a quartet of away games. The squad heads to Princeton for the second straight year, followed by meetings with St. Francis of Brooklyn, VCU and Notre Dame.

The Big South portion of the Flames' schedule will be announced at a later date. Be sure to check back with for updates and the latest men's basketball news.
