The Liberty women's basketball team will face a pair of difficult challenges right after Thanksgiving, as the Lady Flames are slated to meet Ohio State and California at the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout, Nov. 27-28 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The defending Big South champion Lady Flames will match up against Ohio State on Nov. 27 and Cal on Nov. 28. Both games will tip off at 5:15 p.m. Eastern inside the 4,000-seat South Point Arena.

Liberty will square off against Ohio State for just the second time in program history. The Buckeyes defeated the Lady Flames by a 66-51 score on Jan. 9, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio.

The Lady Flames will aim for their second win over a Big Ten opponent in as many years, after notching an 80-68 victory over Penn State at the GSU Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 28, 2014 in Atlanta, Ga.

Led by National Freshman of the Year Kelsey Mitchell, Ohio State went 24-11 in 2014-15 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes' season was ended by North Carolina, two days after the Tar Heels defeated Liberty in the NCAA first round.

Liberty's matchup with Cal will be the first-ever hardwood meeting between the Lady Flames and Golden Bears and just Liberty's third contest against a Pac-12 foe. The Lady Flames' last game against a Pac-12 opponent was a 62-55 setback to UCLA on Nov. 16, 2001, in the opening game of the Michigan State Spartan Chevrolet Classic in East Lansing, Mich.

Pac-12 Player of the Year Reshanda Gray and WNBA first round draft pick Brittany Boyd led Cal to a 24-10 season in 2014-15. The Golden Bears advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, two years after reaching the Final Four.

Liberty fared well the last time it played in Las Vegas, defeating Ball State (68-56) and host UNLV (70-68) to win the Lady Rebel Christmas Classic, Dec. 20-21, 2007 at Cox Pavilion.

The remainder of the Lady Flames' 2015-16 schedule will be announced later this summer.
