The Liberty Flames Signing Day Special, which was presented by the LFSN Game On show, was recognized as an award winner at last night's 2015 College Sports Media Awards.

The football signing day special was named the award winner for the Collegiate Athletics portion of the Outstanding Live Studio/Remote Hosted Programming category.

"We are thrilled and excited to have won this College Sports Media Award," said Jeff Barber, Liberty's Director of Athletics. "Competing against other major colleges in this category was certainly a challenge, but LFSN, as always, did a tremendous job with their coverage of this event."

Other winners in the Outstanding Live Studio/Remote Hosted Programming category included ESPN's College GameDay football coverage (National Networks/Professional), the Longhorn Network's coverage of Texas Game Day Live (Regional/Local/Conference Digital Networks) and St. Cloud State University's Husky Mag (Collegiate Student).

The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced the award winners at last night's 2015 SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards show.

Winners were selected by a panel of judges and awards banquet was part of the 2015 SVG College Sports Summit at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta. The event was hosted by FOX Sports' Joel Klatt.

The Liberty Flames Signing Day Special finished ahead of productions by Arkansas (National Signing Day Show), Buffalo (UB Bulls National Signing Day Special), Minnesota State (Dragons Live: From Evansville, Indiana), Notre Dame (Shamrock Series Pre-Game: Live from Indianapolis), Texas A&M (Texas A&M National Signing Day Show) and Wyoming (Inside Wyoming Football with Craig Bohl).

This year marked the second time the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) had submitted videos for the annual contest. During the first year, LFSN has three videos receive honorable mention selections. The Liberty Flames Signing Day Special marks the second year in a row a Liberty submission had been selected as a finalist.

"I'm proud of the team's commitment to excellent programming, down to every detail of the broadcast — from the on-air talent to the people running the play-back devices," said Russ Martin, Liberty's executive producer of broadcast communications. "We had probably 15 people involved in the production, a combination of professionals and students involved in technical roles, including camera operators and producers."

The 70-minute show was streamed live on ESPN3 and the Liberty Flames Athletics YouTube account on Feb. 5.

During the show, LFSN's reporters Alan York and Nick Pierce provided in-depth analysis of Flames Head Coach Turner Gill's signing class, along with feature interviews with many of Liberty's assistant coaches.

Matt Byrd, Liberty's streaming producer, served as the show's producer, while Charlie Skalaski, III (Liberty's Director of Player Personnel/Recruiting) and Kettie Fickter (Liberty's Assistant Director of Player Personnel) helped coordinate efforts with Liberty's football staff.

"We're very thankful for our team," said Byrd. "A lot of hours went into each production related to this, and we're really blessed to have the facility that we're able to take advantage of. We're very thankful to have that opportunity."

Gill's 2015 signing class, his fourth recruiting class at Liberty, includes 13 high school standouts and the addition of one mid-year enrollee, Ernst Andersen. Andersen, who hails from Lillesand, Norway, enrolled at Liberty in January and practiced with the team during the spring.

Gill's incoming freshmen signing class includes six offensive players (two wide receivers, two offensive linemen, a tight end and a running back) and eight defensive players (three defensive linemen, two safeties, two cornerbacks and a linebacker).

Liberty's coaching staff was able to ink players from five different states and one country to national letters of intent: Florida (4), Georgia (1), South Carolina (1), Texas (3), Virginia (4) and Norway (1).
