As the second semester drew to a close, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) had a chance to catch up with Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder.
During the interview, Pinder provided insight into the team's off-season training. The Lady Flames competed in three spring tournaments, facing several challenging opponents along the way. Pinder also discussed the upcoming 2015 fall season, which will begin in late August.
In 2014, Liberty posted a 23-10 overall record, including 10-4 in Big South play, good for the team's seventh 20-win season in the last eight years. The Lady Flames finished third in conference standings. Liberty sped to a 22-5 record, going on a 13-match winning streak from Sept. 20 through Oct. 25. Among Division I schools, only Colorado State reached 20 wins sooner than Liberty did last season. On Oct. 3 at Gardner-Webb, Pinder became Liberty's all-time winningest volleyball coach, and he currently has 208 coaching victories.
The Lady Flames return three all-conference players in Caroline Douglas, Jade Vorster and Hannah Weidner. Liberty's group of returnees will be joined by a strong class of newcomers, helping the Lady Flames to further success.
