Sydney Morris has signed to join the Liberty volleyball program, transferring from James Madison.
Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder and his staff have announced the transfer of Sydney Morris to the Lady Flames volleyball program.
Morris, who spent the 2014 season redshirting as a freshman at James Madison, has signed to attend Liberty beginning in the fall of 2015. Morris will have four years of eligibility remaining after transferring from JMU.
Sydney Morris, Fr., MB, 6-0, Altavista, Va./Altavista (James Madison) Morris graduated from nearby Altavista High School in 2014 before joining James Madison's volleyball team for the 2014-15 academic year. She was named Dogwood District Player of the Year as both a junior and senior at Altavista. Morris earned Region Player of the Year honors in 2012 and 2013. In each of her last three seasons of high school, she was voted to the first team all-district, all-region and all-state teams.
A multi-sport athlete in high school, Morris was a state long jump champion. Additionally, she was an all-district, all-region and all-state first team selection in basketball.
"Sydney is a very athletic, versatile and competitive player," Pinder said. "She has played both the outside and middle hitter positions. Having redshirted her freshmen season she has a year of training under her belt at the college level and can compete for us for four years. Sydney is fast and physical and plays with a great motor. I feel really fortunate to sign an athlete at Sydney's level this late in the recruiting year. While she is very talented, her desire to be at Liberty and help us build this program is what excites me the most."
