Fualaau and Sampson Removed from Football Roster

Liberty Head Football Coach Turner Gill has announced that fullback Nicky Fualaau and safety Gary Sampson have been removed from the roster due to a violation of team rules.

Fualaau started eight of 14 games for the Flames in 2014, finishing the season with 11 carries for 31 yards and four receptions for 31 yards. He scored his fourth career touchdown against No. 15 James Madison on Liberty's game-winning drive, helping the Flames secure the program's first-ever NCAA FCS Playoff victory.

The native of Federal Way, Wash., played in 32 career games and started 18 career contests. Fualaau had 13 career rushing attempts for 31 yards with two rushing touchdowns and 10 career receptions for 82 yards with two receiving touchdowns.

Sampson started 13 of 14 games last season and ranked sixth on Liberty's roster with a career high 51 tackles (30 solo, 21 assisted). He recorded two of Liberty's 17 interceptions on the year.

In two seasons for the Flames, the native of Miami, Fla., played in 26 games and started 13 contests. He recorded 68 career tackles (38 solo, 30 assisted), three interceptions and two pass breakups.
