Liberty Set for Big South Championship Semifinals

2015 Big South Semifinals Game Notes

The Lady Flames defeated No. 7 seed Gardner-Webb, 21-4, on Tuesday afternoon to capture Liberty's first-ever Big South Championship victory. The Lady Flames improved on their historic season, tying the 2013 Liberty squad with eight wins, the most in a single season in program history. Liberty's 21 goal outburst marked the fourth contest this season that the Lady Flames have eclipsed the 20-goal mark. Liberty will turn its attention to the Big South Championship semifinals matchup where the Lady Flames will square off against No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C. Liberty bested the Chanticleers, 18-8, on April 6 in Lynchburg, Va.

Liberty at a Glance
Morgan Becker continues to pave the way for the Lady Flames' attacking force. Becker enters the contest with 67 points on the season, a new program record for points in a single season. The redshirt senior has netted 36 goals while recording a program single-season record 31 assists.

Katy Pridemore leads the squad on the scoring end of things, having notched an even 50 goals this season. The freshman's 50 goals set a new program single-season record for most goals scored, passing the previous mark of 41, last season, held by Sam Struss.

Juniors Colleen Ekert and Juliann Elmer anchor the Liberty defense this season. Ekert has picked up 41 ground balls and caused a team-high 30 turnovers, tying Jen Freymond for the most caused turnovers in a single season. Elmer stands in goal for Liberty, leading the nation in saves with 199. Elmer's 199 saves broke the Liberty single-season record of 186 saves held by Kristen Masullo in 2011. Elmer leads the team in ground balls with 49, just four shy of passing Jen Freymond for the most ground balls scooped up in a single season.

Liberty was well represented in Big South postseason honors this year. Ekert and co-captains Nina Dunay and Becker make up the Lady Flames on the first team all-conference. Pridemore, Struss and Kallie Britton earned a spot on the all-conference second team, while Elmer was an honorable mention all-conference nominee.

Coastal Carolina at a Glance
The Chanticleers enter the contest having defeated No. 6 seed Campbell, 15-11 in overtime on Tuesday afternoon in the Big South Championship quarterfinals in Conway, S.C. Despite having a late goal waved off that would have given Coastal Carolina a 12-11 edge in regulation, the Chanticleers bounced back in overtime to outscore the visiting Camels, 4-0 to advance to the Big South Championship semifinals.

Coastal Carolina is led by senior Jen Cosgrove with 44 goals and 10 assists. Cosgrove netted seven goals in the 15-11 victory over Campbell on Tuesday. The Maryland native has 15 goals in the last three contests for the Chanticleers.

Keri White falls in behind Cosgrove as the second leading scorer for the Coastal Carolina attack. White has netted 36 goals while recording 14 assists.

Jenna Stover has recorded all 16 decisions in goal for the Chanticleers as the sophomore is 11-5 with 127 saves. The Pennsylvania native surrenders just 9.93 goals per contest.

Coastal Carolina received seven positions on the all-conference ballots, including two honorable mention all-conference honorees.
