For Liberty, freshman Alexia Taylor went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while junior Mickey Loveridge was 1-for-3 with a two-run double.

Longwood struck first, scoring once during the top of the opening stanza. Augustine hit a leadoff double, and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Murphy. After a walk to Baltzell, Sciacca hit an RBI groundout, making it 1-0. Sweeeney lined to short for the third out.

The Lady Flames quickly responded, as Taylor led off with a double and McCarthy hit freshman Tori Zavodny with a pitch. Following a sacrifice bunt, Loveridge hit a two-out, two-run double, good for a 2-1 Liberty lead. McCarthy fanned junior Blair Lawrence, getting out of the inning.

The Lancers took advantage of three Lady Flames' errors, scoring three times in the second frame. Shinrock hit an RBI single, tying the score at 2-2. After an error put runners on first and third with two outs, two runs scored when Emily Murphy reached on a two-base error. Ball struck out Sciacca, ending the rally.

Both teams went scoreless during the third and fourth innings, before Longwood tacked on three runs in the fifth. Baltzell hit a leadoff home run, and Kelsey Sweeney reached on an error. Ball walked Walters, who stole second. Shinrock then made it 7-2 with a two-run single.

McCarthy worked around a Taylor single during the bottom of the fifth, striking out Zavodny to complete the inning.

Tincher entered the circle for Ball to start the sixth. She gave up two hits and two walks before Ball reentered the game. Sweeney and Adams hit back-to-back RBI singles, before a bases-loaded walk set the score at 10-2. Ball got the last two outs, bringing Liberty to bat for the last time.

The first two Lady Flames reached during the bottom of the sixth, as seniors Megan Robinson and Kelby Allen both singled. McCarthy retired the next three batters, clinching the 10-2, run-rule victory.

The Lady Flames and Lancers are currently playing the second game of today's doubleheader.
