Flames Challenge Campbell on Senior Day, Tomorrow

The Liberty men's tennis squad concludes its regular-season home schedule tomorrow against the Campbell Camels at 2 p.m. at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts. The Flames enter tomorrow's conference bout with a 10-8 overall record, including a 3-2 mark in Big South action. The Camels travel to the Hill City boasting a 10-7 record and a 4-1 conference mark.

Tomorrow's home finale will serve as senior day for the Flames' two seniors in Dillon Segur and Jorge Azuero.

Liberty is 4-13 all-time against Campbell on the tennis courts. The Flames snatched a 5-2 victory away from the Camels in the most recent outing on April 10, 2014 in Buies Creek, N.C.

Liberty enters the contest having dropped two consecutive matches after posting two strong wins against Coastal Carolina on March 21 and Presbyterian on March 22. The Flames fell to UNC Asheville in Asheville, N.C. on Friday, 5-2, for Liberty's first conference loss of the season. Following Friday's match, the Flames were bested by Gardner-Webb, 5-2 in Boiling Springs, N.C. on Saturday to fall to 3-2 in conference play.

Sophomore transfer Sam Matheson leads the way for the Flames in singles play, boasting a 12-6 singles record, including four wins in a row. Egon Samaai ranks second on the team in singles wins with a record of 11-7.

Senior co-captain Segur and freshman Diego Castano lead Liberty's squad in doubles wins with a 10-8 overall record. The duo combine for a 6-4 doubles record when competing together.

The Camels enter the contest having won three of the last four matches. In Campbell's most recent outing, the Camels bested Longwood by a score of 7-0 in Farmville, Va. on Thursday. Campbell currently holds a 6-3 record on the road. The Camels' last outing in Lynchburg, Va. came on April 3, 2013 when Campbell bested Liberty, 4-3.

Dillon Segur

Segur currently ranks fifth all-time in program history with 53 singles wins. In 2014 the North Carolina native posted the program's seventh most doubles wins in a single season with 22. Segur and teammate Jorge Azuero recorded 15 doubles wins together in 2013, marking the seventh most team wins in a single season. The co-captain currently has 59 career doubles wins, ranking fifth most in program history and only five wins away from passing Chad Simpson for fourth all-time. Segur also ranks fourth all-time in program history in doubles winning percentage with .672.

Jorge Azuero
In 2013, Azuero recorded the third most singles wins in a single season in program history with 21 while posting 15 doubles wins with teammate Segur for the seventh most team wins in a single season. Azuero also posted the ninth most doubles wins in a single season with 21 in 2014. Currently the Colombian native ranks fourth all-time in singles wins with 57 and holds the fifth best all-time winning percentage of .571 in singles play. Azuero also ranks seventh in program history in career doubles wins with 53, six behind Segur.

The Flames return to action on Thursday when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on the Winthrop Eagles. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Memorial Courts.
