Liberty's Aklesso Agama (Men's Field Athlete of the Week) and Abigail Flower (Women's Track Athlete of the Week) each garnered Big South Conference weekly accolades on Wednesday.
Agama won the men's long jump (personal-best 24-0.25) and triple jump (outdoor personal-best 49-10.5) titles at Saturday's Virginia Cup, helping the Flames notch dual meet victories over Virginia and Norfolk State. The sophomore now ranks No. 5 in program history for the triple jump and is currently tied for No. 7 nationally in the event.
Flower earns this award for the second time in three weeks after placing second in the 200 dash (23.96) and helping the Lady Flames win the 4 x 100 relay (46.69) at the Virginia Cup. The senior team captain ranks No. 20 nationally in the 200 thus far in 2015.
Both Agama and Flower will compete in the 88th Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Thursday through Saturday in Austin, Texas. Other Liberty athletes are entered in the Raleigh Relays, set for Friday and Saturday in Raleigh, N.C.
