Abigail Flower won the first Big South Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
After opening her senior indoor track & field season in impressive fashion, Liberty sprinter Abigail Flower has been named the Big South Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Headlining an impressive display by the Lady Flames' sprinters at the inaugural Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Dec. 3-4), Flower won the women's 200 dash over twin sister Kate Flower and finished second to teammate Oasis Hernandez in the women's 60 dash final.
Flower's time in the 60 final was 7.75, after she sped to a 7.67 in the prelims. She then clocked a winning 200 time of 25.53 seconds. The Lynchburg native ranks No. 29 nationally in the 200 and No. 31 in the 60 after the opening weekend of the 2014-15 campaign.
After taking an extended break from competition, Liberty will be back in action on Jan. 16-17 when the Flames and Lady Flames host the Liberty Open at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center.
