Terra Lowe was named Big South Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year on Monday.

For the second time this year, Lady Flames' softball player Terra Lowe has been named New Balance Big South Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Lowe (Sr., RHP, Chesapeake, Va.) posted a 4-1 record during the week with a 1.68 ERA and two complete games. The senior fanned 32 batters and walked just eight in 25.0 innings of work, while holding opponents to a .209 batting average. The hurler was the victor in both of Liberty's wins over arch rival Radford in a key Big South showdown.

The senior started the week by allowing a run on two hits in a victory over cross town opponent Lynchburg College. She struck out nine batters in a 9-1 five-inning victory over the Hornets.

Lowe followed by fanning 10 batters in guiding Liberty to a 4-2 eight-inning win over UNC Greensboro, marking the third-straight game the pitcher struck out nine or more batters.

Over the weekend, Lowe helped the Lady Flames take two out of three contests from the Highlanders, starting with a three-hit, seven-strikeout, 1-0 shutout victory in game one of the weekend series. The senior closed out the weekend set by allowing one run on eight hits during 4 1/3 innings of work as Liberty downed Radford 9-1 in six innings.

This marks the second time this year Lowe has been named Big South Pitcher of the Week as the hurler also garnered the award on March 19. The honor also marks the sixth-straight week a Liberty softball player has been recognized by the conference.

Lowe started the string of honorees on March 19, followed by Ashley Williams (March 26), Dawn Jeffs (April 2), Jessica Moore (April 9) and Sarah Swor (April 16) being named Big South Player of the Week in successive weeks.

On the season, Lowe leads the Lady Flames with a 14-6 record and a 2.46 ERA. The senior leads the squad and ranks fifth in the Big South with 123 strikeouts, pushing her career total to 427 which is tied for fourth along with Leslie Inge (1997-2000) in school history.

Lowe and the Lady Flames return to the softball diamond tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Farmville, Va., to square off against Longwood. First pitch of the afternoon doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
