As the Liberty volleyball team prepares for its final regular-season road trip, Nick Pierce of Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) caught up with 11th-year head coach Shane Pinder, along with freshman right-side attacker Hannah Weidner.
Weidner has provided an offensive spark for the Lady Flames during her first collegiate season. She ranks second on the team with 3.36 kills per set, and has reached double-figures in kills in a team-best 25 matches so far this year. She has helped the Lady Flames become the top attacking team in the conference, as Liberty leads the Big South with 13.88 kills per set at a .243 attacking percentage. Pinder became the program's career leader in victories on Oct. 3 at Gardner-Webb, and currently ranks fourth all-time among Big South coaches with 207 career wins.
The Lady Flames (22-6), who lead the Big South with a 9-1 conference mark, have won 13 out of their last 14 matches, and are 16-2 in their last 18 contests. Liberty will compete at High Point on Friday at 7 p.m., before taking on Campbell at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Buies Creek, N.C.
