2014 Freshman All-American Parker Bean
The Liberty Flames baseball team will host the Ontario Blue Jays in an exhibition game as part of its fall season, next Wednesday.
The Flames and Blue Jays' exhibition will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The two teams will play 13 innings.
Considered one of the top amateur programs in Canada, the Blue Jays 18 & Under team completes a fall schedule which has them play games exclusively against NCAA and NJCAA teams. At the conclusion of the schedule, the Blue Jays participate in the prestigious WWBA World Championships in Jupiter, Fla.
In addition, the Liberty baseball program will hold its annual scout day at Liberty Baseball Stadium, Saturday. The Flames will be able to showcase their talents for professional scouts.
Liberty's fall season will run through Oct. 26 and conclude with a Fall Series, Oct. 24-26. The team will hold practices every day of the week except Monday and during the university's fall break. Practices are open to the public. The program plans to hold intrasquad scrimmages on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the fall. Practices are tentatively scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
Liberty posted its third 40-plus win season under head coach Jim Toman and the fourth in program history with a 41-18 mark in 2014. The Flames received the program's first-ever at-large selection to an NCAA Regional and appeared at a regional in back-to-back years for the first time in team history.
In addition, Liberty captured the Big South regular-season title with a 23-3 conference mark. The Flames set a program record for Big South Conference victories in 2014.
