Niklas Lindstrom posted his fourth top five finish of the season, finishing in fourth place at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
The Flames capped off their final regular season event of the year with a third-place finish at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on Sunday.
There was very little movement on the team leaderboard during the final round on the par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlett Course at The Ohio State Golf Club.
Liberty, currently ranked No. 36 in the country by Golfstat and No. 37 by Golfweek, entered the final round tied with No. 34/29 UNLV. The Flames were able to best the Rebels by two strokes on Sunday, allowing them to claim sole possession of third place with a 25-over par 877 (288-293-296).
The Flames nearly finished as the event's runner-up, as they were tied for second with No. 18/18 UAB for most of the final holes. However, the Blazers were able to survive the final stretch of holes one shot better than Liberty to take second place with a 24-over par 876 (284-292-300).
No. 5/3 Georgia Tech won the team title with ease, finishing 18 shots clear of UAB to post a winning score of six-over par 858 (281-291-286).
UNLV finished fourth with a 27-over par 879 (291-290-298), while tournament host Ohio State took fifth place with a 30-over par 882 (294-291-297).
Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans (70-73-67) was the only golfer in the 81-man field to break par on Sunday, allowing him to finish tied for first place overall thanks to a four-under par 67 round.
Schniederjans finished tied atop the leaderboard with first round individual leader Frederik Hammer (70-69-71). The pair were the only two golfers to finish the event in red figures with a three-under par 210.
Georgia Tech's Seth Reeves took third place with a one-over par 214 (70-72-72), followed by Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom who took fourth place with a two-over par 215 (73-70-72).
The Flames' senior golfer was one-under par on the day following a birdie at the par-5, No. 12 hole. However, bogeys at No. 14 and No. 18 cost the Swedish golfer two shots down the stretch.
Chase Marinell fired the best closing round for the Flames, finishing his final regular season event as a collegiate golfer with an even par 71. The senior birdied the par-4, No. 16 hole to get his final round to one-under par. But just like Lindstrom, Marinell closed with a bogey on the final hole and finished the overall event tied for fifth place with a three-over par 216 (74-71-71).
Mathieu Fenasse was able to overcome an opening-hole double bogey, getting back to one-over on Sunday after a birdie at No. 14. However, the junior closed with two bogeys and a second double bogey to finish the event tied 14th place with a six-over par 219 (68-75-76).
Liberty's final two golfers in the field were Ian McConnell, who finished tied for 37th place with a 14-over par 227 (73-77-77), and Harrison Winger, who tied for 52nd place with a 21-over par 234 (75-77-82).
The Flames will have the next week to prepare for the 2014 Big South Men's Golf Championship (April 21-23). The Flames will return to the site where they won the conference titles in 2011 and 2012, the Patriot Golf Club, in Ninety Six, S.C.
