Aluma and Blair Named to Big South All-Decade Teams

With the 2013-14 Big South regular season coming to a close, the conference released its inaugural Big South Men's Basketball All-Decade teams, this week. Part of the Big South's 30th anniversary celebration, the all-decade teams were determined by conference administrators and fan voting.

Two Liberty players were featured on the three-team listing. Peter Aluma (1994-97) earned a spot on the 1990s all-decade team, while Larry Blair (2004-07) received a place on the 2000s all-decade team.

Aluma finished his career as one of the dominant big men in Liberty and Big South history. A three-time all-conference honoree, the center was inducted into the Big South Hall of Fame in 2008.

Aluma remains the Big South and Liberty record holder in blocked shots with 366 career blocks. Along with his career numbers in blocks, Aluma holds the top four single-season marks in program history. In addition to his all-conference accolades, Aluma was a four-time Big South Tournament MVP, helping lead the Flames to their first-ever Big South Championship in 1994. Aluma is currently listed at No. 7 on Liberty's all-time scoring list with 1,715 points.

A prolific scorer, Blair concluded his Liberty career with 2,211 points, the most by a Liberty player in the program's Division I era. Blair's point total is second in program history behind Liberty Hall of Famer Karl Hess (2,373). He is also second all-time in the Big South record books behind fellow all-decade team member Reggie Williams (2,556) of VMI.

A four-time Big South all-conference recipient, Blair dropped 29 points in Liberty's 89-44 victory over High Point on March 6, 2004, helping the Flames capture their second Big South title. During his time at Liberty, Blair was also Big South Freshman of the Year in 2004. The former guard still holds the Liberty record for most career three-point field goals with 227.
