Men's Tennis Predicted to Finish Fourth in Big South Preseason Poll

For the second consecutive season, the Liberty men's tennis team has been picked fourth in the Big South men's tennis preseason poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches. The Flames garnered one first-place vote and 51 points overall. Defending league champion Coastal Carolina collected five first-place votes and 76 total points and was tabbed the preseason favorite to retain its title.

Liberty concluded the 2013 season with an 11-11 overall record and a 3-5 Big South mark. The Flames garnered the No. 7 seed for the Big South Men's Tennis Championship, before falling, 4-3, in the quarterfinals to No. 2 seed Campbell.

Campbell followed the Chanticleers in second place with 60 points, just ahead of Winthrop who claimed two first-place votes and 57 points. Presbyterian College's 49 points was good for fifth, two points behind the fourth-place Flames. In sixth with 48 points was Radford, followed by Gardner-Webb with 26 points and UNC Asheville with 25 points. Longwood rounds out the poll in ninth place with 13 points.  

Liberty opens the 2014 schedule on Saturday with a neutral site match against Morehead State. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
