After completing a record-setting season that culminated in a Big South Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, the Liberty women's soccer team continues to rack up postseason awards. Sophomore midfielder Brittany Aanderud and goalkeeper Holly Van Noord have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Team, earning second and third team honors, respectively.

With their selection, Aanderud and Van Noord become the third and fourth players in program history to earn NSCAA All-Region honors. The sister tandem of Nancy and Jenny Davis received third team all-region accolades during Liberty's inaugural championship run in 2000. Aanderud's second team nod marks the highest regional selection in program history.

Aanderud, who also garnered first team Big South All-Conference honors, this season,
cemented her name in the program record books, closing the year with a single-season school record and conference-leading 10 assists. The sophomore concluded 2013 at No. 3 all-time in program history with 15 helpers. Along with being Liberty's primary distributor, Aanderud also tied for the team lead with six goals and was voted tournament MVP for her performance during the 2013 Big South Championship.

In her first active season, Van Noord made a statement in 2013, breaking a single-season school and conference record with 14 shutouts. A second team Big South All-Conference selection, Van Noord also led the conference in goals-against average (0.718) and save percentage (.850). The netminder is one of two freshmen to receive NSCAA all-region honors in the Southeast region.

Liberty concluded 2013 with a 16-6-1 mark, setting a new single-season program record for most wins. Defensively, the Lady Flames' program-best 14 shutouts also tied a Big South record.

The Lady Flames captured their fourth Big South Championship and first since 2005, defeating Radford in the finals on Nov. 10, 5-0. Liberty's goal total marked the most goals in a Big South finals match.
