The Liberty volleyball team has announced that Gabrielle Vess has signed a national letter of intent to attend Liberty and play volleyball, beginning in the 2014-15 academic year. The signing of Vess brings Liberty's 2014 signing class to six student-athletes. On Nov. 13, Liberty volleyball head coach Shane Pinder announced the signing of Rachel Morris, Sirena Vorster, Hannah Weidner, Anna Willey and Hannah Williams. Vess, a 6-0 outside hitter from Fredericksburg, Va., earned first team all-state honors during each of her last three seasons at Fredericksburg Christian. She was named the VISAA Division II State Player of the Year this season, after recording a career-high 381 kills as a senior. Vess was a four-time all-conference player, including MVP honors in 2011 and 2013. She was voted to the all-tournament team at the Fredericksburg Christian School Invitational three times, earning MVP honors this season. "Gabrielle is a very athletic and talented six-rotation outside hitter," Pinder said. "With the graduation of Lillie Happel, Gabrielle will come in and compete right away for a starting position. She is an explosive player with good size and the ability to terminate. Our program is very fortunate to find a player like Gabrielle this late in the signing period."
