After helping the Liberty volleyball team to a semifinal appearance in the 2013 Big South Volleyball Championship, senior outside hitter Lillie Happel has been named to the Big South All-Tournament Team for the second time in her career. The fourth-seeded Lady Flames (11-18) downed No. 5 seed UNC Asheville in the conference quarterfinal, Thursday. Then, in the closest match of the tournament, Liberty dropped a five-set thriller (21-25, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 19-21) to No. 1 seed and eventual champion Radford. Tournament champion Radford received three players on the All-Tournament team, led by Tournament MVP Rachel Wiechecki. Two players from runner-up Coastal Carolina made it on the team, while semifinalists Liberty and High Point both received one selection. Happel, a native of Ellicott City, Md., receives her second career Big South All-Tournament team mention, also earning the honor as a sophomore in 2011. She was named to the Big South All-Conference team during each of her last three years. Happel led the Lady Flames with 3.0 kills per set during the tournament and added 3.0 digs per set. She recorded nine kills, 15 digs, and three blocks during a 3-1 quarterfinal win over UNC Asheville. Happel then scored a team-high 18 kills in addition to 12 digs in the conference semifinal against Radford, Friday. She recorded her 1,000th career dig in her final career match. Happel is now a member of Liberty's 1,000-1,000 club, and ranks 10th all-time in program history with 1,226 career kills. 2013 Big South Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team Rachel Wiechecki, OH, Jr., Radford (Tournament MVP) Emma Deininger, MB, Jr., Radford Cheyanne James, OH, So., Radford Lauren Alejo, S, Sr., Coastal Carolina Meghan Laffin, OH, Sr., Coastal Carolina Kristin Heldt, OH, Jr., High Point Lillie Happel, OH, Sr., Liberty
