Liberty University Head Football Coach Turner Gill announced today that senior running back Aldreakis Allen has been reinstated to the program.
Allen will return to full team activities today and will be held out of the first two games of the 2013 season. Gill suspended Allen on April 2 after a violation of team policy. Allen has remained enrolled as a full-time student at Liberty since the suspension, last April.
Allen led the Flames and ranked No. 2 in the Big South, rushing for 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2012 season. He was named to the Big South first-team all-conference and VaSID first-team all-state squads following his career-best season.
The Colbert, Ga., native had four 100-yard rushing performances last year and was the ninth player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. He also became the seventh player in program history to rush for 1,000 yards and 10 or more touchdowns in the same season.
The Flames are currently preparing for their season-opening contest at Kent State on Aug. 29. The Thursday evening game from Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio, will air on ESPN3 and kick off at 6 p.m.
