Head women's soccer coach Jessica Hain has added Adam Godwin to her coaching staff.

Liberty Women's Soccer Head Coach Jessica Hain has announced the addition of Adam Godwin to her staff as an assistant coach for the 2013 season. Godwin begins his second stint as an assistant women's soccer coach after serving five years as a member of the Liberty Flames football program's support staff.

"I am so humbled by the opportunity Coach Hain has offered me to re-join the women's soccer program here at Liberty," Godwin stated. "It is an outstanding staff and exciting group of players. I cannot wait to help continue building this program into one which competes at the highest level of collegiate soccer."

Godwin added, "I would like to thank Jeff Barber, Meredith Eaker, Coach [Turner] Gill, and my wife for their support of me making this transition from the football program. I had an outstanding experience working in a program with a proven record of success. I'm excited to help bring what I learned over the past five seasons from the exceptional coaching and support staff to our women's soccer program."

Upon rejoining the women's soccer program, Godwin brings with him 12 years of involvement with Liberty athletics as a student-athlete, alumnus, support staff member and an assistant coach.

In his stint with the football program as the Assistant Director of Operations and Recruiting, Godwin worked closely with the coaching staff across all areas of recruiting and assisted in the day-to-day operations during the program's run of four Big South Conference championships (2008-12).

Godwin previously served as an assistant coach with Liberty's women's soccer program for two years (2006-07). In his duties, he was responsible for day-to-day operations of the program, recruiting, supporting the academic and compliance staff and fundraising through the Flames Club.

Godwin was responsible for recruiting the top ranked recruiting class in 2008 among Big South programs as named by He helped the program achieve an APR score that ranked within the top five percent of all NCAA women's soccer programs and coached six all-conference selections.

As a student-athlete, Godwin made 70 appearances for the Flames men's soccer program, helping them to the Big South championship game in 2001. The defender scored one goal and tallied four assists during his four-year career (2001-04). Prior to joining the Flames, Godwin made appearances for Tottenham Hotspur and Notts County Football Clubs in his native England.

During his senior year at Liberty, Godwin served as a team captain and earned Big South first team all-conference honors, as well as Big South all-tournament and VaSID second team all-state distinctions.

Godwin's performances for Liberty during his final year helped him earn an invitation to try out for Great Britain's U23 team, as well as professionally with Cheltenham Town Football Club in his hometown of Hereford, England. Godwin also served as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) president during his senior year at Liberty.

Upon graduating from Liberty in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in sport management, Godwin took up a position with sport hospitality giant THG Worldwide, as an International Account Executive, generating $87,000 in sales during his nine months with the company.

THG Worldwide provides sports hospitality for some of the world's largest companies to events, such as the Super Bowl, Masters, World Cup and Olympic Games. Headquartered in London, England, the company holds 50 offices in 34 different countries.

Adam and his wife, Morgaine, who works in the Academic Affairs for Athletics office, currently reside in the Lynchburg area.
