Sammi Shivock had her second multiple hit game of the year, finishing the contest against Fairfield 2-for-3 with a RBI.

Fairfield scored two runs in the first and five more in the second to take an early lead it would never give up en route to a 12-2 victory over the Lady Flames, Saturday night, at the East Carolina Pirate Invitational.

Fairfield, playing in their only game of the day at the event, moves to 2-1 on the season with the victory. The Lady Flames, playing in their second game in a row, falls to 2-6 on the year.

The Stags continued their early season offensive onslaught, pounding out 10 hits in the game. Last night, Fairfield rallied with 10 runs in their final at bat to beat host East Carolina, 14-10, after a 9-8 setback to Liberty earlier in the day. In three games this season, Fairfield has scored a combined 34 runs and collected 33 hits.

Fairfield's offensive leader tonight was Lauren Liseth, who finished the game 3-of-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs. All three of the catcher's hits were for extra bases, as she had two home runs and a double.

Rebecca Trout gets the win in relief of starting pitcher Rae Ball. Trout pitched the fourth and fifth innings, allowing an unearned run on two hits to move to 2-0 on the year.

Ball opened the game, allowing a run on three hits, while Lauren Falkanger finished the last two innings by fanning two batters and allowing a hit.

Sammi Shivock was Liberty's lone player with multiple hits, finishing the game 2-for-3 with a RBI.
Alyssa DiMartino took her second loss of the season, allowing five runs (two earned) on three hits in 1.2 innings of work.

Annah Jo Brittingham pitched a majority of the remaining innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits in 4.2 innings of work. Kenzie Friesen finished the final 0.2 innings, allowing three runs (all unearned), on two hits.

Sammy Ruffolo and Mikayla Shumate opened the game with a walk and an infield single, followed by Liseth's two-run double to right center to give the Stags the early 2-0 lead in the first inning.

The Lady Flames answered back in the bottom half of the frame, as Holly Seiz had a double down the left field line and scored on Shivock's RBI base hit to right field.

Fairfield continued their hitting ways in the second, scoring five times on three hits and a Liberty error that led to five unearned runs. The five-run frame was punctuated by a three-run homer off the bat of Liseth to right center, pushing Fairfield's lead to 7-1.

Liberty briefly cut into the lead in the fourth inning. Amber Donovan was the second of two Lady Flames to start the frame with a single. With two outs, Ruffolo lost a ball in the lights in centerfield and the dropped ball allowed Donovan to score and trim Liberty's deficit to five, 7-2.

However, the Stags plated runs in each of their final three frames to seal the victory. Liseth spotlighted the fifth with a solo home run to center field, while Lauren Filicia scored on a groundout by Shumate in the sixth.

The seventh saw eight Fairfield runners come to the plate, with two scoring off a double by Sam Frungillo and the last crossing the plate on a triple by Ruffolo.

The Lady Flames will close out their appearance in the East Carolina Pirate Invitational, tomorrow afternoon, against host East Carolina. First pitch for the game is slated for 1 p.m.
