Niklas Lindstrom finished tied for fifth place with a one-under par 209 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
The Flames were unable to rekindle a similar late-round charge on Sunday, dropping Liberty down the leaderboard and finishing the 2013 SunTrust Gator Invitational tied for seventh place.
On Saturday, No. 23/31 Liberty (Golfweek/Golfstat) carded a combined seven birdies during the closing six holes of play to keep them in the upper half of the 14-team tournament field.
However, on Sunday, Liberty was a combined seven-over par during the last four holes of play, carding a combined seven bogeys, a double bogey and only two birdies.
Liberty finished the two-day event with a 21-over par 861 (288-284-289), sharing seventh place with Georgia Southern (289-288-284-861).
No. 31/23 Florida State ran away with the team title, carding an eight-under par 832 (289-272-271) and winning the event by 15 strokes. No. 35/34 North Florida finished a distant second with a seven-over par 847 (287-283-277).
Rounding out the top five programs in the field were South Alabama, who finished third with a 10-over par 850 (291-284-275), No. 5/3 and tournament host Florida, who took fourth place with an 11-over par 851 (282-288-281), and No. 49/47 UCF, who finished fifth with a 19-over par 859 (292-288-279).
Florida State's Daniel Berger posted his third-straight sub-70 round on the par-70, 6,701-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course to win individual medalist honors with a seven-under par 203 (69-69-65).
Seven other players in the 75-man field finished the event in red figures, including Liberty's Niklas Lindstrom. The junior shared fifth place with four other golfers, carding a one-under par 209 (69-71-69).
Lindstrom started strong during the morning, birdieing three of the first five holes, but slipped back a bit with only one additional birdie and three bogeys during the remainder of the day. Lindstrom finished his second tournament this season in red figures and the sixth of his collegiate career.
Ian McConnell was Liberty's next best finisher, posting a five-over par 215 (72-72-71) to finished tied for 23rd place. The junior had three bogeys and two birdies during his final round, allowing him to post his third top 25 finish of the season.
Max McKay followed McConnell, finishing tied for 37th place with an eight-over par 218 (74-72-72). The senior's final-round scorecard included six bogeys offset by four birdies.
Chase Marinell tried to use a birdie on the par-3, No. 15 hole to correct his Sunday round, but the junior closed with three straight bogeys to post a seven-over par 77 and finished the event tied for 49th place with a 10-over par 220 (74-69-77).
Mathieu Fenasse, Liberty's final golfer in the field, matched Marinell's final-round seven-over par 77 and finished tied for 64th place with a 15-over par 225 (73-75-77).
The Flames will make their second trip to the West Coast this year for their next event when Liberty competes in The North Ranch Intercollegiate on Feb. 25-26.
The USC-hosted event will be contested at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
