In its 2013 home opener on Friday night, the Liberty men's tennis team swept past Bridgewater, 7-0, at the Sports Racket. For the second straight contest, Liberty collected wins in all three doubles and all six singles matches on the evening.

With the win, Liberty improves to 2-0 for the first time since the 2004 season. Bridgewater drops to 0-1 with the loss.

"It was a great match tonight and we were very encouraged to play in front of such a great crowd," commented head coach Chris Johnson. "We are very happy to be 2-0 going into next weekend's games against Norfolk State and William & Mary."

The Flames started the evening by quickly collecting the doubles point. Liberty posted wins in each of the three matches for the second straight contest.

Liberty's No. 1 pair of Shea Thomas and Egon Samaai dispatched of the Eagles' Evan Stack and Branden Larson, 8-1. Jorge Azuero and Dillon Segur followed suit with an 8-2 win over Christian Lynn and Mike Cable.

Siim Tuus and Stan Vaughan finished off the doubles matches with a dominating 8-0 victory against Sam Churchill and Pete Hawkins.

Liberty's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players each picked up straight-set wins to begin singles play. Tuus collected a convincing straight-set win over Hawkins, 6-0, 6-3, while Thomas ousted Stack 6-2, 6-2. With the victories, both Tuus and Thomas improved to 2-0 in singles play on the young season.

In the No. 3 position, Segur dropped a hard-fought opening set to Larson, 6-4. The Flames' sophomore bounced back in the second set, with a dominating 6-0 win to even the match at one set apiece. Segur finished off Larson in the third set, 6-2, to give Liberty the victory on the evening.
