For the first time in school history, Liberty will send four male student-athletes to the NCAA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be held June 6-9 in Sacramento, Calif. Jon Hart, Clendon Henderson, Brandon Hoskins and Josh McDougal will all represent the Flames at the meet.

The Liberty men's track & field team recorded its best-ever finish at the NCAA East Regional Championships, taking eighth place in the meet at James G. Pressly Stadium at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Fla., which wrapped up Saturday. Matt Parker was Liberty's top finisher on the meet's second day, tying for fifth place in the men's high jump.

The Big South Conference announced today that Liberty University track and field athlete Arlene Zelinskas (Dayton, Ohio) has been named the Big South Conference's Woman of the Year for 2006-07.

Liberty junior Josh McDougal has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week after winning three events at the IC4A Championships this past weekend. He has now won 10 Big South Athlete of the Week honors during the current academic year.

The Liberty men's track & field team, coming off its first IC4A team title in 11 years, is tied for No. 15 in this week's Trackwire Top 25 rankings. The ranking marks a season high for the Flames.

Aided by Josh McDougal's third victory at the meet, the Liberty men's track & field team won the IC4A championship for the first time since 1996, Sunday afternoon at Princeton's William Weaver Track & Field Stadium. The Lady Flames recorded their best-ever finish in the ECAC team standings, placing seventh.
