Flames second baseman Michael Just finished his career with four hits to break the Liberty single season hit record in the contest.

Boosted by a three-run first and a four-run second, the #5 seed Liberty Flames jumped out a 7-1 lead which they never relinquished in eliminating the #2 seed Winthrop Eagles, 11-7, in Game 10 of the 2006 Bojangles Big South Baseball Championship at Watson Stadium. The win secures a place for Liberty in the Big South Championship title contest this evening.

Liberty's Josh McDougal finished second in the men's 5,000 meters to highlight the performances of the seven Flames that competed at the 2006 NCAA East Regional Outdoor Track Championship on Friday hosted by North Carolina A&T.
The Liberty wrestling program continues with the addition of Patrick "Bram" Walker who will come on board as one of the Flames' heavyweights this fall.
No. 5 Liberty used timely hitting in a slugfest to defeat No. 4 High Point, 9-7, in the 2006 Bojangles' Big South Baseball Championship Thursday night at Charles Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.

Outfielder Philip Laurent, second baseman Michael Just and third baseman Chad Miller were all named to the Big South all-conference second team, while pitcher Phillip Thompson was selected to the conference's all-academic team, the league announced last evening before Game 3 of the 2006 Bojangles Big South Championship.
For the second-straight game, the lower-seeded team proved victorious as fifth-seeded Liberty used a seven-run sixth inning to pick up a 9-6 win over second-seeded Winthrop in Game 2 of the 2006 Big South Baseball Championship, Wednesday afternoon, at Watson Stadium.
