Sixth-seeded Coastal Carolina took the first two games and withstood a late effort from third-seeded Liberty, but it wasn't enough as the Chanticleers picked up a 3-1 upset victory over Liberty (30-21, 30-25, 24-30 and 30-25), Tuesday evening, at the Vines Center in the first round of the Big South Volleyball Championship.

Liberty setter Kallie Corbin has been voted the Big South Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Year by the conference's coaches and sports information directors and middle blocker Autum Black earned a spot on the Big South All-Conference first-team roster, it was announced today.

Liberty freshman setter Kallie Corbin has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Volleyball Player of the Week after recording triple-doubles in both of the Lady Flames' matches last week.
Despite losing the first two games Saturday afternoon at Radford, the Liberty volleyball team was able to rally for a 3-2 (27-30, 26-30, 30-28, 30-23, 15-13) road victory in its regular season finale. The triumph at the Dedmon Center allowed the Lady Flames to wrap up the No. 3 seed in the Big South Volleyball Championship.

Liberty senior middle blocker Autum Black played one of her best matches on Tuesday's Senior Night volleyball match at the Vines Center, posting 13 kills and a career-high nine blocks. However, the Lady Flames were unable to pull out a victory, taking the first two games from East Tennessee State before falling, 3-2 (34-36, 26-30, 30-24, 30-18, 15-13).

Ashley Webber made a successful return from injury and Alysson Sanders recorded a double-double, helping Liberty sweep conference rival High Point, 3-0 (33-31, 30-21, 30-28) Saturday afternoon at the Vines Center. The Lady Flames' victory wraps up a home match in the first round of the Big South Championship.
