Flames Tie for 22nd Place at NCAA Outdoor Track Championships

The Liberty men's track & field team finished in a tie with Arizona State for 22nd place at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which wrapped up Saturday in Sacramento, Calif. The Flames capped off one of the most successful seasons in school history with their best-ever finish at the NCAA track championships as well as the first-ever Top 25 placing by a Big South Conference men's squad at the outdoor national meet.

McDougal Races to Fourth Place in NCAA 5,000-Meter Final

Liberty junior Josh McDougal bumped his magic number up to 11 Friday evening at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. He placed fourth in the men's 5,000-meter final to earn his 11th career All-America honor and increase his point total at the meet to 11. Meanwhile, Clendon Henderson placed 10th in the men's discus final, the best-ever finish by a Liberty thrower at the national meet.

McDougal Nabs 10th All-America Honor, Hoskins Earns His Second

Ten was the magic number for the Liberty track & field team during Thursday's second-day action at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Junior Josh McDougal garnered the 10th All-America distinction of his career with a third-place finish in the men's 10,000 meters. Classmate Brandon Hoskins wrapped up the 10-event decathlon in seventh place, claiming his second-ever All-America award.

Zelinskas, Henderson Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

Liberty senior Arlene Zelinskas has been named a first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection for women's track & field/cross country, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Also, junior Clendon Henderson has received second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District recognition for men's track & field/cross country.

Hoskins Fifth After Opening Day of Decathlon at NCAA Championships; Henderson and McDougal Advance to Finals

Liberty junior Brandon Hoskins, competing in the decathlon, Wednesday's opening event of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif., stands in fifth place at the conclusion of day one's action. Meanwhile, junior Clendon Henderson, who shattered his own Liberty and Big South men's discus record, qualified for Friday's event final, as did classmate Josh McDougal in the men's 5,000 meters.

Liberty to be Well-Represented at NCAA Track & Field Championships

The Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams will send a total of five student-athletes to Sacramento, Calif., for this week's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the Flames' largest delegation to the national meet in program history. Action at the four-day meet will get underway Wednesday at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.

McDougal Named USTFCCCA District Men's Track Athlete of the Year

As he prepares to run both the 5,000 meters and the 10,000 meters at this week's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Liberty junior Josh McDougal has been named the Southeast District Men's Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Jefferson a Late Addition to National Track & Field Meet

Due to a last-minute scratch, Liberty junior Carol Jefferson will have the opportunity to run the 10,000 meters at next week's NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Liberty will now have five representatives at the national meet for the first time in program history.
