Coming off its most successful weekend tournament of the young season, a 3-1 showing at the Villanova Classic, the 8-5 Liberty volleyball team will return home for a Tuesday evening match against James Madison, before kicking off its Big South Conference schedule Saturday at Radford.

Liberty outside hitters Jessica Nelson and Alysson Sanders posted 20 kills apiece during Saturday afternoon's match against William & Mary at the Villanova Classic, sparking the Lady Flames to a 3-2 (32-30, 25-30, 25-30, 30-27, 15-10) win at Nevin Fieldhouse.
Villanova's Alona Cherkez and Kacy Sellers combined for 52 kills, Friday evening against Liberty at the Villanova Classic, enabling the Wildcats to come from behind to claim a 3-1 (20-30, 30-26, 30-22, 30-24) decision. The setback at Nevin Fieldhouse snapped a season-best three-match winning streak for the Lady Flames.

Liberty sophomore middle blocker Chelaine McCarty sparked a 9-1 run to end game one against Princeton, Friday afternoon at Villanova's Nevin Fieldhouse. Her efforts enabled the Lady Flames to come from behind in the opening game against the Tigers and propelled Liberty to a 3-0 (30-26, 30-23, 30-25) sweep in their first match at the Villanova Classic.
The Liberty volleyball team, 5-4 on the young season, has already won its most non-conference matches since 2003. The Lady Flames will look to add to their victory total this Friday and Saturday, with a quartet of matches at the Villanova Classic. The event will serve as the fourth and final season-opening tournament for Liberty.

After bouncing back from a nasty leg injury that sidelined her for the entire 2006 season, redshirt junior Jessica Nelson is back with a new jersey and a new perspective on the game of volleyball.

Playing its second match of the day, the Liberty volleyball team made quick work of The Citadel, Saturday afternoon at the Wright State Raider Challenge. It took the Lady Flames just 1:14 to win three-straight games from the Bulldogs, 30-25, 30-12, 30-16, at C.J. McLin Gymnasium.
