The football team practiced for the first time on the new FieldTurf at Williams Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The team was able to practice on the surface despite the fill process being incomplete. Tonight the installation crew will finish two more passes of sand than rubber before the final fill. This process will be done by Wednesday morning.

Liberty University Head Football Coach Danny Rocco has announced that former Virginia defensive lineman Vince Redd has transferred to Liberty. Redd will not be eligible to compete this year and will complete his final year of collegiate eligibility during the 2007 season.

The FieldTurf installation at Williams Stadium is almost complete. Over the weekend the fill process began on the FieldTurf and by the end of Monday, that stage was near completion. Currently over one million pounds of sand and rubber pellets are being installed into the FieldTurf to give the playing surface a "grass-like" feel to it.
Liberty University head wrestling coach Jesse Castro has announced the addition of former George Mason standout Robert Becker to his coaching staff as an assistant coach.

The Liberty Lady Flames netted two goals within five minutes of each other in the first half and later added another in a 3-0 shutout of the Longwood Lancers Friday night at the Longwood Athletic Complex in the 2006 season opener for both teams.
