FieldTurf Fill Process To Begin Over Weekend

The work week ended on Friday with the last few details being taken care of before the FieldTurf fill process begins over the weekend. One Million pounds of sand and rubber pellets will be filled into the turf.

FieldTurf Installation Nearing Completion

Thursday saw continued work on the final stages of the Williams Stadium FieldTurf installation. Workers spent most of the day finishing little projects to get ready for the final stage. Arriving today was more sand that will be inserted with rubber pellets to form the foundation of the turf. That process will begin in the next day or two.

Flames Club Set To Start New Season; Venue Changes For First Meeting

Liberty University Athletics will officially kick off the 2006-07 season with the first meeting of the revitalized Flames Club. The first meeting of the season on Friday has been moved from the Williams Football Operations Center to the Reber Thomas Dining Hall. The start time remains the same at noon.

Liberty University will be among a field of 102 teams scheduled to compete for one of the 13 BracketBuster nationally-televised games, was announced today by ESPN. The event will be held February 16-17, and marks Liberty's first appearance in the five year-series.

Former Liberty standout Julius Nwosu is currently playing a key role for team Nigeria in the FIBA World Championship hosted by Japan. On Thursday, Nwosu helped Nigeria cruise to a 95-72 victory over Lebanon to book their place in the second round.

Wednesday saw continued work on the final stages of the Williams Stadium FieldTurf installation. Workers spent most of the day finishing little projects like the stitching of the south endzone's "Liberty" lettering. Also touched up was the stitching on the Liberty Flames logo at midfield.
