During Big South Football Media Day in July, LFSN reporter Alan York had a chance to talk with Doug Rhoads, who serves as the conference's Football Coordinator of Officials.

Rhoads has served in the same capacity for the Big South for the last seven seasons. He is the Coordinator of Officials for football in the ACC, as well as, for Army and Navy. Rhoads started working as an on-field official with the ACC in 1977.

Rhoads' officials come from all over the East Coast and must have more than 10 years of officiating experience under their belts before he will consider them for his working crew (five years of high school officiating and five years at the small college level).

During the interview, York and Rhoads discuss a variety of topics, including the latest enforcement on targeting a defenseless player, this year's new rule changes and more.
