This is your Liberty Flames Minute! Brought to you by Select Bank for this Monday, October 17, 2022, I’m Nick Pierce.
Once again, Flames football is bowl eligible. Saturday, Liberty came from behind in the fourth quarter to edge Gardner-Webb, 21-20 at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg. With the win, Liberty’s now 6-1 and becomes bowl eligible for the fourth straight year under coach Hugh Freeze.
“I like being an ugly 6-1 a lot better than a pretty 4-3. I know that and the feeling in the locker, I think, is the same. I think everybody knows we need to get better with what’s coming up next but, man – to be bowl eligible for fourth straight year this early in the season, I think is a remarkable accomplishment, with the schedule we’ve played.”
Liberty remains at home this Saturday to host BYU at 3:30 Eastern. And from volleyball, Liberty gets a five-set win over UNF in an ASUN match. Sunday, the Lady Flames rallied from a 2-1 deficit to top the Ospreys at Liberty Arena.
