How COVID-19 Affects Student Life

Building a safe community.

Fostering relationships with other students is an integral part of the college experience. As we enter the Spring 2021 semester, the university is committed to providing events that create social opportunities to engage with one another in a safe manner.

Student Activities.

A diverse calendar of events for students will be held that follow the guidelines of our university and government. Though these events may look different in size and may be altered to create safe environments to protect the Liberty community, we will provide ample opportunities each week for students to engage with one another. Visit Student Activities for a full calendar of events and updates to event sizes.

Campus Recreation facilities will be open.

Liberty’s Campus Recreation continues to serve students by positively impacting their holistic well-being. During Spring 2021, students can expect to participate in a variety of fitness and recreational programs with additional safety protocols and modifications that meet local, state, and federal guidance. We encourage students to visit the LaHaye Recreation and Fitness Center, the Hydaway Outdoor Center, the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre, David’s Place, the Montview Bowling Alley, and Game room, the Liberty Mountain Gun Club and the Liberty Mountain Equestrian Center. Visit Campus Recreation for more information.

Intramural sports/events on campus.

Exciting programming opportunities such as intramural sports, group exercise, outdoor rec trips, and special events will still occur even if they need to adapt to current health guidelines or regulations. Visit Campus Recreation for the most up-to-date information on hours of operation and other details.

The Commuter Lounge will be open.

  • Regular cleaning and environmental health and safety measures will be utilized to promote cleanliness.
  • Signage will be installed to communicate safe practices.
  • New entry and exit procedures to promote one-way thru traffic will be established.
