    Flames sophomore JP Edwards was the Division 1-2 men's singles Gold bracket runner-up and teamed with senior Seth Jordan to capture first place in the men's doubles division, highlighting Liberty University's season-opening Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Racquetball Conference (MACRC) tournament. The three-day event was played Oct. 5-7 at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill's Fetzer Gym.

    Jordan also won the Division 1-2 men's singles Blue bracket and seniors Jesse Gauldin and Jaron Proehl joined forces to claim the Division 3 men's doubles Blue bracket title.

    Sophomore Grant Knaus and senior Jesse Gauldin placed second in the Division 1-2 White and Division 3 Blue brackets, respectively and junior Garrison Walker finished third in both the Division 1-2 men's singles and doubles Blue brackets, pairing with Knaus in doubles.

    Liberty senior Christian Tinsley played doubles with Krishna Boppana from Wright State (Ohio) University, with both teams receiving half the points for their third-place showing in the Division 3 Red bracket.

    In women's competition, Lady Flames graduate student Pamela Passburg was the Division 4 Gold bracket singles champion and senior Rebekah Olson took second in the Division 3 singles White bracket. Olson also teamed up with Passburg to place fifth in the Division 3 doubles bracket.

    In Division 1-2 doubles, junior Danielle Pearson and senior Lindsey Marston combined for a third-place showing after Pearson took fifth in D1-2 singles.

    The Flames and Lady Flames will travel to their second MACRC tournament Nov. 9-11 hosted by North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C.
