    Former Liberty University ACHA Division I men's hockey defenseman Cam Bakker ('15), has signed a contract to continue his playing career with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, after playing 20 games with the Federal Hockey League's Cornwall Nationals.

    The Rail Yard Dawgs are a second-year team in the Southern Professional Hockey League.

    This is Bakker's first season of professional hockey after netting 28 goals and distributing 57 assists in 139 games of his career with the Flames, including 11 goals and 24 assists during his senior season. His younger brother, Sean, is currently a senior defenseman on Liberty's ACHA DII squad.

    Bakker will make his Rail Yard Dawgs debut on Friday at the Macon (Ga.) Mayhem before playing his first home game in the Berglund Center, formerly known as the Roanoke Civic Center, on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the Birmingham (Ala.) Bulls.
