Liberty University Chapter of Delight Ministries Offers Fellowship and Community For Female Students
Delight Ministries is a Bible study program that invites college women to study the Bible with like-minded individuals in a Christlike community. The Bible study’s core values include innovating effectively, equipping and discipling, and having a Spirit-led study. Women at Belmont University founded Delight in 2012.
Delight began at Liberty University in 2016 and has enabled women to grow in their relationships with the Lord ever since. The Bible study allows students to feel accepted, leave behind sin and pain, and then, in return, learn the character of God with tangible and practical obedience.
“Something to know when coming into a Delight meeting is that we want to do life with you and go deep with you,” Morgan Terpstra, chapter director of Delight at Liberty, said.
Delight fosters an environment for believers to come and grow together as they study the Bible. This semester, the group is going through a study called Heartbeat. It is a 10-week study on different disciplines centered around Scripture and includes personal prayer points, reflection questions and discussion questions.
Delight brings a community together for students to pray over each other, encourage each other and worship.
“There is something so special and beautiful about genuine, Kingdom friendships, which bring you to the feet of God again and again,” Terpstra said.
Terpstra said she aims to grow Liberty’s chapter of the Bible study in the next year.
“Community is part of our innate design by our Creator, and we want every woman to have the opportunity to take part in it,” Terpstra said.
Chapters of Delight exist on more than 230 campuses, and it has reached over 15,000 women. It is a place to belong, a place to grow in one’s faith and a place to be known.
“My personal testimony is that, freshman year, the leaders who were seniors opened my eyes to what truly being on fire for the Lord looked like,” Terpstra said. “For the first time, I experienced the gift of discipleship, encouragement and confession and learned what a deep prayer life with the Lord looks like. It changed my relationship with God, and I believe (it) changed my life.”
Delight at Liberty meets at 7 p.m. on Mondays in room 1510 of the John W. Rawlings School of Divinity. For more information on Delight events, visit @delight_liberty on Instagram.
