The slight rustle of paper, repetitive clicking of pens and faint whirring of printers fill the air as reporters frantically run from cubicle to cubicle. Yellowed coffee cups dot each desk, and crumpled pieces of paper lie across the floor like discarded snowballs. The constant ringing of phone calls and urgent tapping of keyboards adds to the newsroom’s cinematic score of the hustle and bustle of life.

Although, this is not any ordinary newsroom. Seated at the back end of the office in a glass- encased room is the editor-in-chief. But this is not an ordinary editor-in-chief either. This editor-in-chief is God, and this newsroom is his heavenly newsroom.

Imagine that every pivotal moment in your life is being recorded in a newspaper. Breaking news: You were born. The latest headlines capture your first steps and the moment you first looked up at your parents. Every direct quote portrays who you are and your own viewpoints just like an actual article. Throughout time, an issue would come out for each year you had lived.

By the time you turned 20, there would be a whole stack of publications recording the very history of your life. And who would be your number one fan through it all? God.

With stacks of papers surrounding his desk, God would be there reading the freshly printed page that documented the latest and greatest moments of your life. In his newsroom, the truth would be told and printed in every line of his grandest publication. He would be your number one subscriber, the most devoted fan and reader. No tragedy or celebration would be too small or big for him; every single aspect of your life would be of utmost importance.

He would read every headline and scan every page and column to double-check that all of the details about your life were being accurately represented. While other people may come and go, barely taking a glance at the biggest headlines in your life, God would be there, waiting at the printers to see how the latest issue was coming along.

And the best part? He’d be standing there, fact-checking everything to make sure that the full story was being told. You may wonder, “Why would God pay attention to every single detail of my life?”

Because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

While life can, at times, feel like a labyrinth of obstacles and setbacks, God sees everything you may be going through and will always be beside you. Every step forward is already marked in his map because God knows where you need to go to fulfill the purpose that he has for your life.

When you find yourself struggling to get through the day, unsure of what the next chapter is, don’t be disheartened when it feels like your pen has lost all of its ink. God is the one and only author of your story, and he’s got the best writing tools. Ultimately, God has the extraordinary ability to use every intricate detail of our stories for his glory, and that is the most beautiful part.

Matthew 10:29-32 says, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So, everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.”
