Mike Pence Coming to Liberty Convocation

Liberty University will welcome 48th Vice President Mike Pence to the Convocation stage Sept. 14.

The former vice president has visited Liberty twice previously — once as a Convocation speaker in October 2006 and the other as the keynote speaker at commencement in May 2019.

Pence served as the vice president of the United States from 2017 to 2021 in former President Donald Trump’s administration. As vice president, Pence chaired the National Space Council when it was reestablished in 2017 and was appointed chairman of the White House Coronavirus Task Force in 2020. Previously, he served as the 50th governor of Indiana from 2013 to 2017. Additionally, Pence was also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013.

“I think (Pence speaking at Convocation) will help people to understand the importance of voting,” current student Mollie Leckrone said. “(Students) will be able to see the change that they can make in
the nation.”

Other upcoming guests for Convocation this fall include Jonathan Pokluda (Oct. 12), Priscilla Shirer (Oct. 14) and Paralympic champion swimmer Jessica Long (Nov. 19).
