Sodexo and SGA Team Up To Provide Easter Egg Hunt For Students

Student Government Association and Sodexo have planned a campus-wide Easter event full of lawn games, an Easter egg hunt and free food.

Students can join together on April 12 for this Easter celebration on the academic lawn.

A Hoppin’ Good Time will take place for everyone on campus, including students, faculty and staff.

The event serves to promote community and unity on campus. It includes Easter card making, lawn games, an Easter egg hunt, free cupcakes and punch provided by Sodexo.

Over 500 plastic eggs filled with candy will be scattered throughout the campus. Students can take as many as they want, but there will be five golden eggs with a special piece of paper inside leading to bigger gifts such as candy themed items, spa themed items, gift cards and Apple products.

SGA Events Director Alexis Clapper hopes that all the games and events will draw more people to participate.

“Most of the time, people will either go home for Easter break, or they’re not really on campus for it,” Clapper said. “That’s why we planned it for the Tuesday before Easter because most people will still be on campus.”

Clapper hopes it will bring students together as one.

“I want students to be able to feel welcomed and included and just being more active on campus and being able to find community,” Clapper said. “Mostly what I would love for students to take away is just to feel loved and cherished, and especially during this season and know that God loves them.”

Senior Eliese Gulley is excited for the event and thinks it’s a good way to celebrate Easter on campus.

“(It would) be nice to actually do something (for Easter) this year because it’s my last year,” Gulley said. “It’s a break to get away from the stresses (of) this semester ending and just be able to relax a little bit and de-stress.”

At the beginning of the event, Spiritual Affairs Director Jonah Sheridan will give an Easter devotion at 12 p.m. The Easter egg hunt will start at 12:30 p.m. and last until 3 p.m. Students can find information on posters around campus, and there will be more information on Student Government Association’s social media closer to the event date.
