Crushing Crimson: Men’s Lacrosse Decimates Alabama At Home

Liberty men’s lacrosse dominated Alabama from start to finish, beating the Crimson Tide 21-2 March 25.

It was Liberty’s senior night, and 10 seniors were honored before the game.

Alabama came into the game 1-7, nowhere near the Flames in terms of talent, but the Tide put in effort the whole way.

Sadly for Alabama, it wasn’t enough. Four Liberty players scored hat tricks: Carter Elliot, Keaton Mohs, Will Geary and Cooper Branham.

This rapid-fire offense combined with a flurry of goals is helping the Flames reach new heights. A few weeks ago, Liberty reached No. 1 in the national rankings, the first time in program history.

Assistant Coach Mike Zumpano was pleased with how the game went, noting that many players got a significant amount of playing time due to the team’s hot start.

“We had an expectation that we would be able to control the pace of the game from the beginning, and we just decided that there’s a brand of lacrosse that characterizes our team that we need to continue to play,” Zumpano said to Liberty Club Sports. “We were able to get most of our subs in, so it was good to be able to give them a real chance to see how they execute in a game scenario and some individual feedback that they don’t usually get.”

Liberty has two games next weekend – the Flames play UConn at home April 2 before they travel to Harrisonburg April 3 to face JMU.

After JMU, Liberty is set to host BYU April 8 at 11:59 p.m. for the team’s Midnight Mayhem game during CFAW.
